The NZ Racing Hall of Fame Induction Dinner – Friday 9th February 2018

The NZ Racing Hall of Fame will be inducting nine new inductees on Friday 9th February in Hamilton.

The NZ Racing Hall of Fame is a registered charity and as such raises its funds from donations and sponsorships. Each event involves a new round of funding requirements which involves the following expenditure:

  • The development of inductee films which includes researching, scripting and narrating each inductee story, travelling to meet and interview the inductees and filming their material, sourcing and paying for proprietary content such as films, music and pictures, filming the content and inductee memorabilia, and collating the content and producing the final version of the films.
  • The cost of inductee banners, medals and framed certificates.
  • The cost of separate collage and equine paintings.
  • The holding of a bi-annual  induction event which involves the costs of staging and lighting, background entertainment, the rental of premises, MC services, and food and liquor.
  • The travel and accommodation costs of new inductees and special guests.
  • Complimentary event tickets for new and existing inductees, sponsors, dignitaries and NZRHF board and selection committee members.
  • The cost of publishing various stories on people connected with the NZ Racing Hall of Fame.

To date we have held six induction dinner and have inducted 66 people and horses. Each of these inductees have been individually sponsored. In addition each event has had an event sponsor and special sponsors which have often involved the auction of a small number of items such as stallion services.

We also have costs associated with the public displays of inductee stories on our website (, and display kiosks located at Te Papa (Wellington), Cambridge Museum and NZ Sports Museum (Dunedin).
