Te Papa - New Zealand's National Museum - Phar Lap Exhibition
Te Papa is based in Wellington and has approximately 1.5 million annual visitors. The skeleton of the NZ bred and Australian Champion racehorse Phar Lap is a permanent exhibition at Te Papa.
In 2010 as part of the 150th celebrations of the Melbourne Cup the Phar Lap skeleton was lent to the Museum of Victoria. This left a void in the exhibition and to fill this Te Papa approached the NZ Racing Hall of Fame to have the Phar Lap film clip available for viewing on a continuous basis.
Te Papa's exhibition team were astonished at visitor interest in the Phar Lap film clip and as part of a major refurbishment of the exhibition set up a standalone viewing kiosk of the NZ Racing Hall of Fame inductee film clips. The content of this kiosk is updated for all new inductees.
Pictures of the Phar Lap exhibition are shown below.
